Orlando Martínez named Player of the Week in the Liga ARCO.

This Monday’s in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico (2025-2026) brought excellent news: Havana native Orlando Martínez has been named Player of the Week, after an outstanding performance with the Tomateros de Culiacán.  Martínez was the offensive spark plug that led his team to a perfect week (6-0), sweeping the Cañeros and the Tucson Baseball Team.

HIS NUMBERS FOR THE WEEK: 

•12 RBIs (League leader for the period)  .

• 391 batting average (9-for-23) 

• 2 Home Runs

5 Runs Scored

•3 Doubles

•1 Triple

His best night was Wednesday, December 10th, where he drove in 6 runs in a single game. With this award, Martínez joins Leonys Martín (2-time winner) and pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne (last week’s winner) as the Cubans who have dominated the weekly awards this season. In fact, in the voting he surpassed his countrymen and teammate Julio Pablo Martínez, who also had a week with 4 home runs.

The slugger continues to demonstrate his dominance in the Mexican Winter League, leading the circuit in extra-base hits (24) and total bases (106), in addition to being third in hits (65). Expect Martínez to be in the conversation for the league’s MVP and to garner interest from Asia or México in the summer.
