Although Adolis García hit a monstrous blast to center field that traveled 421 feet and was his only hit in four at bats, the Texas Rangers still fell to the Baltimore Orioles 7-2. The native of Ciego de Ávila, Cuba saw his average fall to .316 on the young campaign, but went yard to the first time of the season.
For the victors Cionel Pérez hurled 1 ⅓ scoreless inning and gave up a hit, all while fanning a batter and watching his ERA fall to 2.70 on the season. The lefty from Matanzas, Cuba has struck out four batters in 3⅓ innings this campaign. Pérez who figures to be the setup man this year for the Orioles has a sterling 1.20 WHIP on the season.

Aroldis Chapman took the mound for the second time this season and continues to look like his old self. The hard throwing lefthander’s fastball touched 104 mph on the evening and although Kansas City fell to Toronto 4-1. Chapman has now put together two scoreless innings to start the season and has prescribed four strikeouts during that time.
Cuban-American Eric Hosmer is looking like a good signing for the Chicago Cubs so far, the first baseman last night was a catalyst in the team’s 12-5 victory over Cincinnati by knocking in two runs via a single and a double in five trips to the plate. Hosmer who signed with the cubbies for the league minimum is hitting .294 and his four RBI’s in four contests.
