Nolan Arenado went downtown for the 300th time in his career, a three run shot in the third inning off Eric Lauer in St. Louis’s 6-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cuban-American third baseman is now hitting a robust .364 and has driven eight runs on the season.
Aroldis Chapman saved the 316th game of his career after hurling a scoreless in which he fanned two of the batters he faced in the Kansas City 6-5 over San Francisco. The native of Holguín, Cuba has yet to give up a run on the season in four innings pitched and has struck out eight batters over that span.
Although Yordan Álvarez swatted his third longball of the season, a grand slam in the third inning of the Houston Astros 9-6 loss to the Minnesota Twins. The giant from Las Tunas, Cuba with those four runs batted in is now tied for the MLB lead with 14 and is hitting a .310 on the season. José Abreu also joined in on the act with a hit and a run scored in four trips to the plate for the defending world champs.

Luis Robert, Yasmani Grandal and Óscar Luis Colas combined for six hits and six RBI’s to pace the Chicago Whitesox in their 11-5 shalacking of Pittsburgh Pirates. The Cuban trio is now hitting .366 , .280 and .300 on the season respectively. The other Cuban on the squad Yoan Moncada went hitless in five at bats on the evening.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr had his best evening of the season to help the cause in Arizona’s 12-8 triumph against the Dodgers. The 29 year old slugger collected three hits in his five trips to the plate and drove three runs. The youngest of the Gurriel clan watched his average jump to .229 on the season.
