Chapman continues to be unhittable, but Kansas City falls to Atlanta (+MLB Cuban Report)

Aroldis Chapman continues to be unhittable to start the season. In last night’s game versus the Braves the lefty from Holguín, Cuba started the inning by giving up a double to Ronald Acuña and walked a batter to get into a hairy situation in the eighth inning. The flamethrower then proceeded to fan the next three batters to hold the line in that inning. Kansas City gave up a run in the ninth to fall to Atlanta 5-4. Chapman has yet to give up a run in six innings pitched this season and has struck out 12.

Yandy Díaz smacked a double, single and scored run in his three at-bats yesterday in Tampa’s 8-1 victory over Toronto. The infielder who is hitting .292 in his last seven games also sports a sterling .910 OPS on the campaign. Cuban-American hurler Alek Manoah was tagged for nine hits and seven runs in 4 ⅔ innings on the mound to take his first loss of the season. The righty from Miami watched his ERA so 6.98 on the year.

Nolan Arenado connected on two hits in five at-bats and slapped a double in one of those turns at the plate. Although he didn’t drive in or score a run the Cardinals still downed the Pirates 5-4. On the season the third baseman is hitting .333 and is fifth in National League with 13 RBIs.
