Elían Leyva shines in his first CPBL ( +Asian League Report)

Elían Leyva made his CPBL big league debut with an impressive outing. The righty Mayabeque, Cuba pitched six innings where he gave three runs on six hits and struck five to earn his first victory of the year in Rakuten’s 6-4 win over CTBC Brothers.

In Japan Liván Moinelo struck out one of the 3 batters he faced in a perfect eighth inning of work to improve his ERA to 1.50 in the SoftBank Hawks’ 5-3 win over the Rakuten Eagles at the Fukuoka Pay Pay Dome.

His countrymen Raidel Martínez pitched a perfect inning of relief to keep his ERA at 0.00 in the Chunichi Dragons’ 3-2, 12-inning loss against the Hiroshima Carpas. The lanky right-hander is tied for the league lead in saves with seven.

In Korea Guillermo Heredia went 0-for-4 on the day in SSG’s loss to LG 6-3. The outfielder from Matanzas, Cuba watched his average fall to .337 on the young campaign.
