Andy Ibáñez goes yard in Detroit’s victory. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Andy Ibáñez went yard for the first time on the campaign, knocked in a run and scored three times via his two hits in three at-bats to lead the Tigers to a 6-2 victory over the Cleveland Gaurdians. Since his call-up late last month the native of the Isle of Youth is hitting a robust .333.

Yordan Álvarez collected two hits and drove in a run, while his countrymen José Abreu knocked in a run via a single in his four at-bats, but Houston fell to the Angels 6-4. Álvarez and his 32 RBIs place him third in MLB in that department, while Abreu watched his average jump to .225 on the campaign.

Though he did not factor in the decision Néstor Cortés had a solid outing tossing five innings of six-hit and two-run ball in the Yankees 7-2 win over Oakland. The lefty from Batabano, Cuba also struck out four and in 38 innings pitched this season Cortés has fanned 39.
