The Mexican League (Liga Mexicana de Béisbol) season has kicked off once again and as usual Cubans have played an integral part in the circuit.
Félix Pérez who is the league’s reigning MVP has picked up where he left off last year. The outfielder from the Isle of Youth is hitting .328 with a league leading seven homeruns, is second in runs batted in with 18 and third in OPS (1.189).
Henry Urrutia (.323,4HR,11RBI) and Dariel Álvarez (.340) have also looked real good with the lumber after 16 games. Urrutia and Pérez are tied for the lead amongst Cubans with 20 hits, while Álvarez leads them with five doubles.

Three names standout when we speak about Cuban pitchers in the LMB, they are Ariel Miranda, Yoennis Yera and Carlos Juan Viera. Miranda who is in his first season in México leads the Antilleans in wins (2), innings pitched (22.1) and strikeouts (31).
Yera on the other hand is amongst the league leaders with a sterling 1.50 earned run average, while Viera his teammate with Tabasco sports a sterling 0.73 WHIP and opponents are hitting a miniscule .114 against the hard-throwing right-hander.
