Lefty Yoennis Yera was masterful in Tabasco’s 2-1 win over Quintana Roo last night. The southpaw from Matanzas, Cuba tossed six scoreless innings where he only allowed four hits and retired via the strikeout. Yera also notched his second win on the campaign and watched his ERA fall to 2.38 on the season.
Peter O’Brien is having a career year at the plate. The Cuban-American slugger went yard for the ninth time on the season and knocked in three runs to be the catalyst in Puebla’s 4-1 victory over Oaxaca. The outfielder is hitting .364, is second in the LMB in homers and leads the circuit in OPS (1.150).
Yadiel Hernández is starting to the feel for the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol’s pitching. Although the Sultanes de Monterrey were soundly beaten by Monclova 9-5, Hernández had a solid day at the plate. The leftfielder collected two hits, drove in a run and scored on another occasion to watch his average to .262.
