Lourdes Gurriel Jr stays hot in Arizona’s win. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Lourdes Gurriel went yard for the ninth time on the season, drove in a run and scored on an occasion to do his part in Arizona’s 7-5 victory over Colorado. The outfielder from Sancti Spíritus, Cuba is now hitting .319 placing him fifth in the National League in batting average.

Gurriel has now collected a hit in 16 of his last 17 games and is hitting .379 over that span. The slugger also has 29 RBIs on the campaign and sports a sterling .905 OPS.

Romy González homered for the second night in a row and for the second time on the season in Chicago’s 6-4 loss to the Angels. The Cuban-American utilityman saw his average jump to .206 on the season and has knocked in six runs in his last seven games.

J.D. Martínez deposited his 11th ball of the season in the stands and for the second night in a row he also left the yard. The slugger is on a tear over his last four games, Martínez has driven in six runs over that span and is now hitting a solid .276 on the campaign.
