Randy Arozarena hit his 12th longball of the season, one of the walkoff variety and also scored a run to account for both of Tampa’s score in their 2-1 win over Minnesota. The outfielder’s homer broke a slump that saw him hitting .231 in his last 15 games, Arozarena and his 43 RBIs lead the Rays in that category.
Yordan Álvarez went downtown for the 17th time on the campaign and knocked in Houston’s only two runs in their 3-2 loss to Toronto. The giant from Las Tunas, Cuba with his 55 runs batted in regained the league lead in that department.
Miguel Vargas launched his sixth homer of the year and drove in two runs, but his best efforts could not prevent a Dodgers’ 8-6 loss to Cincinnati. The infielder is hitting a solid .273 in his last seven games. J.D. Martínez also got in the act for Los Angeles with a double and run scored in four trips to the plate.
