Henry Urrutia homers twice in Saltillo’s victory. (+Mexican League Report)

Henry Urrutia swatted three hits and launched two homeruns, all while driving in five runs to lead Saltillo in there 16-3 thrashing of Aguascalientes. The slugger from Las Tunas, Cuba who also happens to be the reigning league batting champion now has 10 longballs on the campaign.

Peter O’Brien continues to make his case for the league’s most valuable player. The Cuban-American slugger collected two hits on the night one of them being a run scoring double in the third inning of Puebla’s 5-3 loss to Quintana Roo. The outfielder who is hitting a robust .374 has also knocked in 40 runs on the campaign.

Another Cuban-American JC Escarra made his LMB debut going 1-for-5 in the Tijuana Toros 14-9 win versus the Algodoneros de Unión Laguna. The native of Miami has been brought in to augment an already powerful Tijuana lineup after massacring the pitching in the Atlantic League.

Yosmany Guerra went yard for the first time on the season and also scored a run, but his best efforts couldn’t prevent a Campeche 7-2 loss to the Águila de Veracruz. The Cuban infielder and has .337 average has also been a sparkplug at the top of the Piratas lineup.
