Lázaro Blanco after an inconsistent first half of the season started the second part of the campaign with a bang. The right-hander from Yara, Cuba tossed eight innings where he only gave up a run via a hit and fanned five to notch his first victory of the season and of his career in the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol. The Bravos de León downed the Tijuana Toros 14-1.
Henry Urrutia went downtown for the 11th time on the season and for the second straight night knocked in at least two runs to aid Saltillo in their 7-5 win over Puebla. The All-Star who has started the second half on fire now hits .302 on the campaign and has driven in 39 runs.
Peter O’Brien brought a run via a sixth inning double and also scored a run for Puebla in a loss. The Cuban-American slugger who is having the best season of his career swatted his 20th double of the season and now bats .370 on the season with the Pericos.
