In a fairly light day of action for Cubans in the best baseball in the world one name really stood out, it was Andy Ibáñez who had arguably his best day of the season. The utility man from the Isle of Youth collected two hits on the evening, one of them being a third inning three-run blast off Andrew Heany to lead Detroit to a 7-2 win over Texas.
Ibáñez who played right field on the day also watched his average rise to .238 and augmented his RBI total to 14 on the campaign. In defeat Adolis García also went yard on the evening and is now second in the majors in runs batted in with 62.
Luis Robert homered for the third straight to account for Chicago’s only run in their 2-1 loss at the hands of the Angels. The outfielder who now has 22 jacks on the season is making a great case for an All-Star selection.
