Ariel Miranda notches his third win on the season for Saltillo. (+Mexican League Report)

Although he walked five batters Ariel Miranda pitched five innings of no-hit ball and fanned six in Saltillo’s 5-2 victory over Durango in last night’s action. The Cuban lefty notched his third victory and watched his ERA descend to 4.32 on the campaign.

His teammate and countrymen Henry Urrutia helped the cause by collecting two hits in four at-bats and scoring on two occasions to his part in the Saraperos win. The defending league batting champion is now hitting a solid .304 on the season.

The Olmecas de Tabasco thrashed the Pericos de Puebla 11-1 yesterday and Roel Santos was a catalyst in that win. The outfielder from Granma, Cuba swatted two hits and knocked in three runs, Maikel Serrano also jump into the action by going downtown in the third, driving in a run and scoring twice. Santos and Serrano hit .290 and .248 on the season respectively.

In defeat for Puebla Cuban-American Peter O’Brien went yard for the 14th time on the campaign and was responsible the Pericos only run on the evening. The Miamian who is having a career year now hit .343 to go along with 45 RBIs on the season.
