Nolan Arenado hit his 17th dinger of the campaign and drove in a run in three trips to the plate. The Cuban -American slugger also scored on an occasion to lead the Cardinals in their 3-0 blanking of the Marlins. The All-Star third baseman not hit .280 on the season.
Although the White Sox fell 6-2 in the first game of a double-header to Toronto in extra innings, Oscar Luis Colas was the catalyst on offense for the Windy City’s squad. The native of Santiago de Cuba collected a hit in three at-bats, knocked in a run and also scored on occasion.
The outfielder went hitless in the second encounter between the teams and the pale holes also dropped the contest 5-4 to the Canadians. His average fell to .207 on the season.
Adolis García smacked his 19th double of the season and scored twice in Texas’ 10-6 loss to the Red Sox. The league leader in RBIs watched his average rise to .262 on the campaign. García not only will be making his second All-Star appearance this season, but will also compete in the homerun contest.
