Cionel Pérez notched his first save of the campaign after tossing a ninth inning in which he gave up a hit and walked a batter, but still managed to escape without any damage and secured Baltimore’s 3-2 win over the Phillies. Over his last seven games the lefty has amassed, two wins, a save and posts a 2.84 earned run average.
For Philly Nick Castellanos collected a hit in the three trips to the plate and drove in a run. The Cuban-American slugger snapped a streak the saw him hitting .133 in his last 15 games.
Nolan Arenado went yard for the 22nd time on the campaign and knocked in a run to do his part in St. Louis’ 10-6 win over the D-backs. The native of California is putting up MVP numbers and could be in the run for the award come season end. Arenado is hitting .316 over the last month and has also driven in 32 runs over that span.
