Yandy Díaz smacked a two-run double in the second inning to lead Tampa Bay to a 4-1 win over in-state rival Miami. The first baseman who is hitting .318 on the season left the game in the third inning with an apparent groin injury.
Yoan Moncada returned to action by driving in a run in three at-bats after being out of the lineup for six weeks with an injury. Luis Robert also helped Chicago’s cause with a double in three trips to plate, while also scoring a run in the White Sox’s 7-3 loss to their cross-town rival Cubs. The Cubans are now hitting .227 and .270 on the season respectively.
Tristón Casas laced a hit and knocked in a run via a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the first inning to do his part in Boston’s 7-1 victory over Atlanta. The Cuban-American slugger who has now driven 37 runs on the season has gone yard twice and is batting .429 in his last seven games.
