Yunesky Maya was masterful last night notching his fifth victory in Oaxaca’s 3-0 win over Quintana Roo in the second game of their doubleheader. The right-hander pitched five scoreless innings where he only gave up two hits and retired four via the strikeout. The “Warrior” as he is known by the Cuban faithful saw his ERA fall to 4.26 on the season.
Although he didn’t factor in the decision Yoennis Yera was dealing last night. The lefty from Guantánamo, Cuba tossed five innings where he gave up a run vía three hits and fanned 10, but Tabasco still dropped the contest 2-1 to Veracruz. Yera saw his ERA descend to 2.90 on the season.
Peter O’Brien swatted his 19th longball of the season in Puebla’s 3-0 blanking of Yucatán. The Cuban-American also knocked in two runs and scored on an occasion. The outfielder is now hitting .317 and is ninth in the LMB with a .986 OPS.
