Nick Castellanos swatted his 200th career longball in the first inning of the Philadelphia Phillies 7-0 shutout of the Washington Nationals. In total the Cuban-American slugger homered twice on the evening and knocked in three runs to aid Michael Lorenzen’s no-hitter. After a slow start post All-Star break the outfielder is now hitting .321 over his last seven games.
Raisel Iglesias tossed a scoreless ninth inning where he fanned two batters and gave up two hits to preserve Atlanta’s 6-5 win over Pittsburgh and notch his 22nd save of the season. Iglesias has 1.29 ERA and 10 saves in his last 15 outings.
Tristón Casas hit his 18th homer of the season in three trips to the plate to do his part in Boston’s 4-3 victory over Kansas City. The South Florida native watched his average rise to .252 on the season and drove in 42 run to expand on his impressive rookie campaign. The first baseman is batting a robust .347 since the All-Star break.
