Jorge Soler went yard twice in four trips to the plate, drove in two runs and scored three times to lead Miami in an 11-3 thrashing of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Cuban slugger is hitting .308 and has swatted five roundtrippers in his last seven games.
Cionel Pérez continues to be unhittable since the All-Star break. The lefty from Matanzas, Cuba tossed a scoreless inning in which he fanned two in Baltimore’s 9-4 win over Oakland. Since the break the hurler is 2-0 with 2.31 earned run average and has not allowed a run in his last 7 ⅔ innings.
Yennier Cano also got in on the act by hurling a scoreless ninth where he also retired two of the four batters he faced via the strikeout. In his last seven outings the flamethrower has not allowed an earned run and has struck eight batters, while also registering a 0.79 WHIP over that span.
