Cuban-American Peter O’Brien went yard two times, in second and the seventh innings, while also driving in four runs to put the Pericos de Puebla into the Serie del Rey after their 12-11 extra innings win over the Leones de Yucatán in the Zona Sur finals. The yellow birds are going after their fifth league title and make their first appearance in the championship series since 2016.
For Yucatán righty Yoanner Negrín took the loss after in giving up two runs in ⅔ of an inning of work. Yadir Drake also added a homerun and drove in two runs for the felines. For the team from Merida it was their fifth straight final series appearance.

In the Zona Norte finals JC Escarra knocked in a run in four trips to the plate but Unión Laguna dropped the game 5-4 and Dos Laredos closed to within a game of tying their series a three. The native of Miami also leads the Mexican League in homeruns these playoffs with six. Escarra is now hitting .349 in the postseason.
