Andy Ibáñez collected two hits in four trips to the plate, went yard for the 10th time on the season and drove in three runs to do his part in Detroit’s 10-3 win over the Yankees. The utilityman who has now driven in a career high 30 runs is also hitting .284 over the last month.
The native of the Isle of Youth is also slashing .281/.423/.704 and has swatted 30 extra-base hits on the season, also a career high for the Cuban. Ibáñez might have cemented himself a place on the team’s roster for the near future.

Cuban-American Carlos Rodón was charged with the loss after 3 ⅔ innings where he was roughed up for seven earned runs on eight hits for the Bronx Bombers. The lefty has now lost five games and watched his ERA balloon to 6.60 on the campaign. The hurler who was a high-profile free agent signing has been quite ineffective on the mound in an injury marred season.
