Yuli Gurriel connected on a key three-run shot in the first inning of the Marlins 9-6 win over the division winning Atlanta Braves. The first baseman who hit his fifth longball of the year also scored on two occasions to key the fish’s win. Though mostly in a reserve role Gurriel is hitting .286 in his last seven games.
Another Gurriel, Lourdes was also key in his team’s victory over the Chicago Cubs 7-6. The outfielder drove three runs via three hits in five trips to the plate. The All-Star has now knocked in 80 runs, four away from is career high and is hitting a robust .346 in his last seven games.
Yordan Álvarez knocked in two runs via a fifth inning singlevand a ninth inning double, but the Astros still fell to Kansas City 10-8. The slugger from Las Tunas, Cuba has now driven in at least 90 runs for the third straight campaign.
