Jorge Soler collected two hits and knocked in a run to aid the Marlins in their 7-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates and cemented their place in this year’s postseason. The Cuban slugger is hitting .360 in his last seven games. Miami makes the playoffs for the second time in the last four years.
Andy Ibáñez swatted three hits, drove in two runs and scored on two occasions to command the Tigers offense in their 8-0 blanking of Cleveland. The infielder from the Isle of Youth has now knocked in a career high 40 runs on the season.
Raisel Iglesias notched his 33rd save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth in which he gave up a hit and struck out a batter to secure Atlanta’s 5-3 victory over the Nationals. The right-hander has clearly been the best reliever in the game after All-Star break posting an ERA of 1.84 and saving 17 games.
