Another tournament, another defection for Cuban Baseball.

In what seems to be a recurring theme and something that has now become the norm for the Cuban Federation, Cuba closed out another tournament light a player. This time the defection came in the form of Granma’s Yosbany Millán as the inaugural WBSC Baseball Champions League came to a close two days ago.

The defection was confirmed to our sister page Pelota Cubana USA via a couple of unamed sources very close to the situation. The player did not report to his room and his whereabouts were unknown as the team departed to head to the airport in anticipation of their return to Cuba

.

The infielder who also saw action in the 2023 Serie del Caribe with the Agricultores squad this February in Venezuela. The Cubans finished last in the tournament after win the opening game against eventual champion Fargo-Moorhead, but then dropping their subsequent games to Barranquilla and Yucatán.

Millán has played four years in the Serie Nacional with Holguín and Granma. His best series to date was the last one that was recently completed when he slashed .268/.353/.329/.682, while also swatting six doubles, two triples and driving in 25 runs.

During the tournament Millán only had two trips and was unsuccessful in getting a hit in both opportunities. Although in my opinion Millán isn’t signing material for an MLB franchise or Asia he can still sign in other professional leagues worldwide.
