Yasiel Puig collected four hits in as many trips to the plate, including a key homerun in the sixth inning putting his squad ahead for good. The outfielder also drove in a run and scored a run in the Estrellas 5-3 win over the Águilas. After a slow start the Cuban slugger is red-hot over the last week and is now hitting .357 on the campaign.
In México Miguel Romero was dominant in his third start in the Liga ARCO. The right-hander tossed seven innings of three-hit, no-run ball to lead Culiacán to 10-0 shutout of Mazatlán. Romero also retired three via the strikeout, the hurler combined an array of breaking pitches with a 94 MPH fastball on the evening. His ERA descended to 2.60 on the season.
Yadir Drake also had a perfect evening in Guasave’s 8-6 over Obregón. The Matanzas, Cuba native swatted three hits and scored four times. Drake is now hitting a robust .356 leaving him second on his team and seventh in the Mexican Winter circuit in that statistical category. The slugger is one of the most feared and complete hitters in the league.
