Raúl Valdés had a post-birthday celebration by tossing a gem against the Águilas Cibaeñas. The left-hander from Mariel, Cuba hurled six innings in which he gave up two runs via five hits and fanned four. The Toros downed the squad from Santiago 4-2 and Valdés saw his ERA descend to 4.86.
In Puerto Rico Albert Almora knocked in two runs via a sixth-inning single and also scored on an occasion, but Santurce fell to cellar dweller Mayagüez 14-6. The Cuban-American outfielder watched his average rise to .234 on the season.
Although Chinandega fell to León 18-5 Rubi Silva collected three hits in four trips to the plate and scored a run to pace the Tigres attack. The utilityman is now hitting a .371, has posted an OPS of .911 and has scored 12 times on the season in the LBPN making him the sparkplug to the team’s offense.
