Dairon Blanco continues to swing a hot bat from the leadoff spot, in yesterday’s 9-5 against the Toros del Este the outfielder collected two hits and scored a run to do his part in setting the table for the team from San Pedro de Macoris. Blanco who hits .302 on the season is also second in the LIDOM with 19 stolen bases.
For the Toros Cuban-American Jimmy Yacabonis continues to be lights out from the bullpen. The right-hander tossed fanned two out of the three batters he faced to pitch ⅔ of a scoreless inning. The hurler has yet to allow a run in 10 ⅔ innings pitched this season, he has also struck out 12 batters over this span.
Lefty starter Raúl Valdés was hit indiscriminately on the evening for the Toros giving up five runs via seven hits and striking out three to watch his ERA rise to 4.99 on the season. The legendary pitcher in the LIDOM also gave up three longballs on the night.
