The Cuban Federation of Professional Baseball Players (FEPCUBE) formally invited heralded slugger Henry Urrutia to join their squad for the upcoming Intercontinental Series in Barranquilla, Colombia from the 25th of January to February 1st and he gave them resounding yes for answer.
The addition of Urrutia, who is the first player to publicly say yes to the organization shows that the FEPCUBE is serious in putting a competitive and possibly elite team on the field for the tournament. A hitter with the pedigree of Urrutia definitely legitimizes the federation’s efforts to draw top talent to their roster.

Urrutia who has won batting title in the LIDOM, LVBP and Liga Mexicana de Béisbol will possibly be the designated hitter or play first base for the squad and be its third place due to his all-around talent with the lumber. The addition of the native of Las Tunas, Cuba also opens the door for other top talent in Caribbean and non-40 man roster players to fall in to the ranks of the Cuban squad’s roster.
We at the Cuban Baseball Digest and Pelota Cubana will announce some coming additions to the roster in the coming weeks and expect FEPCUBE to add other names that are well known and talented to their team in the not-so-distant future. The ex-big leaguer is hitting .296 this winter with the Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Winter League.
