Juan Francisco Puello Herrera, Caribbean Baseball Commissioner, categorizes this year’s organization and staging of the Caribbean Series in Miami 2024 as a great success in all aspects, while valuing the work done by the organizing committee and the organization of the Miami Marlins.
“The attendance has been incredible, sustained by support from many Latin fans who reside in Miami, other parts of the United States and the other nations of the region,” commented Puello, while expressing that the CBPC platform has been “a fundamental axis” to make all this possible.
In the current edition of Miami 2024, the four member countries (Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Mexico) participated along with the guests from Curaçao, Panama and the first year participant Nicaragua. In this edition, Cuba and Colombia were absent. The Miami Marlins could be the beneficiary of this because the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation and the team announced an exclusive multi-year partnership for the broadcast rights of the Caribbean Series event.

Precisely on the topic of Cuba’s participation in the next Caribbean Series (Mexicali 2025), Puello dedicated a few words after being asked about the inclusion of the Caribbean nation by Nicaraguan journalist Levi Luna: “It is something that we still do not know, if I must say that Cuba, regardless of the relationship that I have with the Cuban Baseball Federation for many years. I remind you that I spoke about this about Cuba’s participation in the Caribbean Series since 1993 and it finally came to pass at Margarita Island edition (2014) many years later, but the doors of the Federation and the Caribbean Series are always open to Cubans and to the Cuban Baseball Federation.”
Agricultores (Las Tunas and Granma) representing Cuba participated in the Gran Caracas 2023 edition and finished in eighth place (1-6), with their only victory coming on the first day against Curaçao. That edition concluded with crown number 11 being won by the Tigres del Licey, one of tomorrow’s finalists. “In fact, probably (not sure), I have a trip to Havana, because I want to discuss some things with the president of the Cuban Federation and see if we talk about some things I don’t want the doors to be closed for Cuba,” said Puello Herrera.
“In fact, probably (not sure), I have a trip to Havana, because I want to see some things there, discuss them with the president of the Cuban Federation and see if we talk about some things that I cannot advance now, which I do I don’t want the doors to be closed for Cuba,” added Puello Herrera.
