The Rieleros de Aguascalientes have invited Cuban right-hander Pavel Hernández to camp this year after the hurler pitched very well with the club last season. The hard-throwing Hernández had a 2-3 record in 12 starts with the Mexican club and even reeled off 11 straight scoreless innings during the season.
In the 2022-23 Serie Nacional posted 7-2 record, 3.58 ERA and was the Industriales top pitcher during that campaign. Hernández did not pitch this winter in the Cuban Liga Élite II, but does have a 17-18 balance, a 4.70 earned run average and 211 strikeouts in 306 ⅓ innings pitched during his career in the Serie Nacional.
The righty has to impress the team in order to make the roster this summer. Armed with a 93 MPH fastball and various off-speed pitches he has all the tools to make the team and could be a low-key bargain acquisition for the Rieleros.
