Yordan Álvarez goes yard in Houston’s win. (+Spring Training Report)

Yordan Álvarez went yard for the first time this spring, knocked in a run and scored twice to do his part in Houston’s 9-4 win over the Nationals’ split squad. The slugger is hitting .400 and has driven in four runs on the spring.

Vladimir Gutierrez saw action once again in a relief role and looked phenomenal. The right-hander tossed 1 ⅓ innings of relief in Miami’s 4-1 win over the Nationals’ split squad to notch his first hold of the spring. In 2⅓ innings of work this preseason the Cuban has a hold, a save, two strikeouts and has yet to allow a run.

Nick Castellanos went yard for the second time on the spring, but Philadelphia was routed by Toronto 13-5. The Cuban-American outfielder is starting to find his way after a slow start with the bat and has now knocked in two runs this preseason.
