Elían Leyva is masterful in his first start of the season. (+Mexican League Report)

Elían Leyva was masterful last night tossing five shutout innings in Yucatán’s 1-0 victory over Tabasco. The right-hander from Mayabeque, Cuba also fanned two batters, while only allowing one hit during his outing. Leyva sports a 0.40 WHIP after his initial start of the season.

Leonys Martín went yard for the second time on the season and knocked in two runs, while Roel Santos also helped the cause with two RBIs of his own to lead Querétaro to a 9-7 win over Oaxaca. The two outfielders are hitting .144 and .444 respectively, Santos also added a stolen base to his numbers on the day.

Luis Avilés Jr knocked in a run in three trips to the plate to help Veracruz edge León 3-2. The infielder is off to an awesome start hitting. 357 on the young season. In a loss Eddy Díaz swatted a double and a triple in three trips to the dish, while also knocking in two runs.
