Yennier Cano notched his fifth hold of the season after tossing 1⅓ scoreless innings in Baltimore’s 3-2 loss to Oakland. Last season’s league leader in holds is tied for third in the AL in that category this season and now sports a 2.63 ERA.
J.D. Martínez debuted with the Mets in style. The Cuban-American slugger swatted two hits including a sixth inning run-scoring double, but the Mets still dropped a 4-2 decision tothe Cardinals. Martínez, who has been an All-Star the past two seasons adds another potent bat to New York’s lineup.
