José Abreu: “I am not going to stop working until I achieve my desired results.”

The Series in Mexico was a success for the Houston Astros, not only because of the enormous support they received from the Mexican fans but because they managed to win the games against the Colorado Rockies and continue their winning streak, something that has been very difficult for them this season.

One of the most favorable results for the Astros in the series was the enormous production from their offense, mainly from players who were lagging on offense, such as first baseman José Abreu. The Cuban slugger player spoke with our sister page Pelota Cubana about his improvement at the plate and the work he is doing to increase his contribution to the team’s offense.

“I think that all Cubans have a big goal, that we have to continue improving gradually. It hasn’t been easy, it hasn’t been the feeling I would have wanted to have at the beginning of the campaign, but it is part of life. The positive thing is that I have to move forward myself and I am not going to stop working until I achieve my desired results. ”

In reference to the good reception of the Astros by Mexican fans, Pito said that it is very satisfactory. “I think all the people around this series did a very good job.” “We have enjoyed ourselves these days in Mexico, I believe that the fans have supported us and we got out of that horrendous stretch that we are going through. We have to continue moving forward.”

For his part, Astros manager Joe Espada also commented to the press about the team’s performance in Mexico. “There was timely hitting, something we haven’t seen all season and we did it,” Espada commented. “For me, that was what I liked most about this offense. The home runs and all that, it’s always good to see, but we did it with people on base, which was very good to see.”
