Cuban right-hander Yariel Rodríguez was placed on the 15-day injured list by the Toronto Blue Jays on April 30. After his last start on April 29th he ended up feeling discomfort in his back, very similar to what he felt in spring training.
He was only able to make two starts in spring games then and was then assigned to Triple A to get in game shape. Now everything indicates that his recovery will be a similar process to the process he encountered during the spring, so far his rehabilitation has taken place at the Blue Jays Complex in Dunedin.
Yariel Rodriguez and Chad Green threw bullpens in Toronto and felt good, said John Schneider. Rodriguez will throw another side while the Blue Jays are working through next steps on Green.

This Monday he had his first bullpen session as part of his recovery in Florida after going on the disabled list. Manager John Schneider said it felt great. He is expected to throw another bullpen soon before being assigned to Triple-A for a few rehab starts.
After four starts in MLB, Rodríguez has worked 15.1 innings and has an earned run average of 4.11. So far he has also walked eight and opponents are hitting .302 against the righty. The hurler was a key free agent acquisition for the team this offseason after defecting from the Cuban National Team during the World Baseball Classic.
