Aroldis Chapman tossed a scoreless seventh inning in which he struck out two of the three batters he faced on the day to notch his ninth hold of the season in Pittsburgh’s 5-4 win over Chicago.
The left-hander who saw his ERA descend to 4.31 on the season, while also allowing one run and has fanned 10 batters in his last seven outings. Chapman is now tied for fourth in the National League in holds.
J.D. Martínez swatted a go-ahead eleventh inning single and eventually scored on a wild pitch to do his job in the Mets’ 6-5 victory over Philly in extra innings. The Cuban-American slugger who has been the model of consistency over his career is hitting .292 over the last month.
