Patrick Meriño swats a triple in Boise’s win. (+Independent League Report)

Patrick Meriño swatted a triple and knocked in a run during Boise’s 7-1 win over Grand Junction in the Pioneer League. The ex-Rays prospect raised his average to a miniscule .091 and drove in his first run of the campaign.

Although he struck out seven, Orlando Rodríguez gave up six runs via four hits in Fargo-Moorehead’s 9-7 loss to Cleburne. The right-hander also walked six to see his ERA balloon to 6.14. Rodríguez has 20 in 14⅔ innings pitched this season.

Willie Escala collected two hits in four trips to the plate, one of them being a run-scoring double in Sussex’s 9-7 win over New Jersey in the Frontier League. The Cuban-American infielder is hitting .224 and knocked in only his second run on the season.
