Yandy Díaz homer sets the tone for Tampa in a victory. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Yandy Díaz led off the game with a longball for the Tampa and scored a run to set the tone for the Rays in their 3-1 win over the Pirates. The native of Villa Clara, Cuba has been swinging a hot bat in his last 15 games hitting a robust .379.

Raisel Iglesias tossed a scoreless ninth in which he fanned two of three batters he faced to preserve an Atlanta 3-1 victory over the Yankees. The hurler from the Isle of  Youth notched his 20th save of the season and is half way to becoming only the second Cuban to rescue 40 games in MLB history, Danys Báez was the first in 2005.

J.D. Martínez drove in a run in four trips to the plate to do his part in the Mets’ 5-2 triumph versus the Cubs. The Cuban -American slugger has now driven in 32 runs on the season and is a key component in New York’s 8-2 record over their last 10 games.
