Jorge Martínez tossed five innings of four-hit, one-run ball and struck out six to notch his sixth victory of the year in Querétaro’s 4-2 win over Veracruz in second game of a doubleheader. The right-hander fanned six on the night and saw his ERA fall to 6.75 on the season.
Rusney Castillo helped his countrymen’s cause with a fourth inning solo-shot, which was his second homer of the season. The outfielder has sparked the Conspiradores offense in his short time with the club and sports a gaudy 1.333 OPS over that span. Castillo was also a stalwart in the first game collecting three hits and knocking two runs in a Querétaro 7-4 win.
Diosbel Arias knocked in four runs via two hits to do his part in México City’s 18-1 thrashing of the Bravos de León. The slugger from Artemisa, Cuba is now hitting a solid .316 on the campaign and has driven in 19 runs. Arias who has been used sparingly by the Diablos Rojos has produced when given the opportunity.
