At six years old, Steven was already excelling on the diamond, training tirelessly even on holidays. During his time in high school baseball, Steven played for the South Miami Cobras. Despite his excellent performance and being one of the best players on the team, he was not selected in the draft. Setbacks in college baseball did not dent his determination; On the contrary, they encouraged him to seek new opportunities.

After those setbacks Steven made a crucial decision: move to the Dominican Republic to train at his father, Ysbel Medina’s, academy. Ysbel, a renowned player agent, has been instrumental in signing more than 100 players for MLB organizations, including notable figures such as Yadiel Hernández, Cionel Pérez, Andy Pages, Norge Luis Ruíz, Adrián Morejon and Bryan Ramos, amongst others.

Under the guidance of his father, Steven underwent 14 months of rigorous, non-stop training, spending the entire time in the Dominican Republic. The effort paid off, Steven managed to sign with the Arizona Diamondbacks, thus fulfilling his dream. This story not only highlights his impressive work ethic, but also the sacrifices he has made on his path to success.

Despite not facing financial need, Steven chose the most challenging path, demonstrating exceptional tenacity and commitment. This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support and enormous sacrifices of his family. They all went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that Steven had every opportunity necessary to achieve his dream.
