Rubén Cárdenas swats his first KBO homer in a Samsung win. (+Asian League Report)

Cuban-American and ex-Rays prospect Ruben Cardenas swatted his first homerun in the KBO, a two-run blast in the sixth inning of Samsung’s 21-4 thrashing of the Lotte Giants. Two games into his career in the Korean circuit the recently acquired slugger is hitting .313 with a run scored, two RBIs and the aforementioned longball.

In the NPB Ariel Martínez singled once in three trips to the plate and scored 2 times in the Nippon Ham Fighters’ 10-2 victory over the Lotte Marinos. His average rose to .237. Martínez will be making his second consecutive all-star appearance in the NPB this season.

In the CPBL the league is in its All-Star break in which the Chinese Taipei Sub-23 time will match up with CPBL All-Star Team for a two game series in Taipei Arena in the nation’s capital bearing the same name.
