Liván Moinelo blanks Seibu and notches his sixth win of the season in NPB. (+Asian League Report)

Liván Moinelo secured his sixth victory of the year after allowing just five hits and no runs in eight solid innings of work in the SoftBank Hawks’ 1-0 victory over the Seibu Lions at the Belluna Dome in Tokorozawa. The left-hander from Pinar del Río, who struck out nine batters in the game and improved his record to 6-3 and his ERA to 1.57, a figure that leaves him in first place in that department in the Pacific League. His 109 strikeouts now place him second in the NPB in that statistical category.

Ariel Martínez went 2-for-4, with twi singles, one run scored, three RBIs, a walk and a steal, to help the  Nippon Ham Fighters defeat the Chiba Lotte Marines 10-6 in ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba. His average rose to .240 and his total RBIs rose to 41. The first baseman will make his second straight appearance in the Nippon League All-Star Game tomorrow.

Ruben Cardenas has gotten off to a hot start in the KBO. The Cuban-American slugger swatted three hits in five trips to the plate including a ninth inning two-run walk-off homerun to lead Samsung to a 6-5 win over the Lotte Giants. In total Cárdenas drove in three runs on the evening and scored a run on the day. The outfielder is now hitting. 400 with two longballs and five runs batted in during his first three games with the Korean squad.

Liván Moinelo is immaculate in a SoftBank victory.
