Jorge Soler collected three hits in as many trips to the plate, including a mammoth solo-shot in the first inning to get things started for the squad from “The Bay”. In total the “Cuban Giant” plated three runs on the day and has driven 17 runs this month.
Adolis García launched his 18th longball of the season, a two-run shot of Yusei Kikuchi in the fifth inning in Texas’ 6-5 loss to the Bluejays. The slugger from Ciego de Ávila, Cuba in total knocked in three runs on the evening and has also driven seven over his last seven games.
Nick Martínez notched his fourth win of the season after tossing innings of no-run, one-hit ball in relief during the Reds’ 3-2 win over Tampa. The Cuban-American righty also fanned two and saw his ERA descend to 3.77 on the campaign.
J.D. Martínez homered for the 11th time on the season, an opposite field grand slam to spark a Mets’ offense that doubled up Atlanta 8-4. The native of Miami is hitting a solid .310 over his last seven contests and has been very cost-effective, but productive pickup for the team from Gotham this season.
