Liván Moinelo won his seventh game of the campaign after allowing just one run and one hit in seven solid innings in the SoftBank Hawks’ 10-1 victory over the Rakuten Eagles at Rakuten Mobile Park in Sendai. The left-hander who did not allow hits or runs until the seventh inning, improved his record to 7-3 and his ERA to 1.55, a figure that leads that Pacific League in each of those statistical category.
Ariel Martínez swatted a pinch-hit two-run homerun in the 3-run tie in 12 innings between the Nippon Ham Fighters and the Orix Buffaloes. The first baseman from Matanzas, Cuba had not gone yard since July 10, homered for the 10th time on the season. The slugger raised his average to .238 and his RBI total to 43.
In the KBO Guillermo Heredia collected two hits in five trips and drove in a run to do his part in the SSG Landers’ win over the Lotte Giants. The outfielder saw his average rise to .359, leaving him second in the circuit in batting average. Heredia also augmented his RBI total to 79, also leaving him second in the league in that statistical category.
