Yadiel Hernández homers during Dos Laredos’ loss. (+Mexican League Report)

Yadiel Hernández hit fourth inning homer, but his best efforts could not save Dos Laredos’ in their 7-6 loss to Monterrey in the second game of their Zona Norte finals series. The outfielder is hitting a solid .275 and has driven in five runs during the postseason.

For the winners Michel Báez pitched an inning in relief during which he did not allow a run and fanned a batter for the Sultanes. The flamethrowing righty sports a 5.40 earned run average during the playoffs for the Mexican squad. Monterrey now has a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.

Although the Diablos Rojos de México City fell to the the Guerreros de Oaxaca in the opening game of their best of seven series Jimmy Yacabonis tossed an inning in relief during their 5-4 loss. The Cuban-American hurler also struck out a batter and has yet to allow a run during the playoffs in 4.1 innings pitched.
