Yandy Díaz goes yard in a Tampa Bay loss. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Although Yandy Díaz went yard for the 12th time on the campaign, drove in a run and scored twice it was not enough to prevent Tampa’s 13-5 loss at the hands of the San Diego Padres. The first baseman is hitting a scorching .321 over his last 15 games and has now knocked in 59 runs on the season.

For the victorious Californians Adrián Morejón tossed a scoreless ninth inning in relief in which he fanned two of the three batters he faced in mop-up duty. The left-hander saw his ERA descend to 2.91 on the season.

Nolan Arenado homered for the 14th time on the season, a solo-shot in the eighth inning of St. Louis’ 6-3 loss to the Yankees. For the Cuban-American slugger it was the 340th of his career and he is now hitting a solid .270 on the campaign.
