Yordan Álvarez collected four hits in five trips to the, one of the them being his 35 longball of the season. The slugger from Las Tunas, Cuba also knocked in a run and scored twice to pace the Astros’ 10-4 thrashing of Angels. Álvarez has hit .311 over the last month.
Jorge Soler smashed his 21st longball of the season, while also driving in a run to do his part in Atlanta’s 6-2 win over the Marlins. The power-hitting outfielder has now gone yard three times over the last seven games. Soler has also homered nine times since his arrival with the Braves.
Carlos Rodón tossed six scoreless innings in which he gave up five hits, struck five and walked a batter in the Yankees 10-0 blanking of the Athletics. The Cuban-American lefty notched 16th win on the campaign and watched his ERA descend to 3.98 on the season.
Nick Castellanos deposited his 22nd ball in the stands, but his best efforts could not save the Phillies from a 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Mets. The slugger from Hialeah, FL is now hitting a solid .296 over his last seven games and has knocked in 84 runs of the campaign.
