J.D. Martínez knocked in two runs via a fifth inning two-run single as a pinch-hitter to do his part in New York’s 8-4 win over Milwaukee. The veteran slugger has been a big bat during the postseason hitting a robust .298 and has also driven 33 runs.
José Iglesias also got in on the act with a single, a run scored and a run batted in during his five trips. A day after qualifying for a wildcard spot the team from Gotham to a 1-0 lead in the series and is a win away from advancing to the divisional series.
The Mets will send Sean Manea to the mound tomorrow with a shot to advance to the second round, while for the Brewers Frankie Montas will take the hill looking to extend the series to a do-or-die Game 3 also in Milwaukee.
