Rangel Ravelo went yard for the first time on the season, two-run, first inning shot to do his part in Lara’s 6-2 win over Caracas. The infielder has been swinging a hot stick after five games in the LVBP, Ravelo saw his average rise to .727 and has driven three runs on the campaign.
Although the Gigantes del Cibao fell to Las Águilas Cibaeñas 8-4, Henry Urrutia had a great opening night in the LIDOM. The slugger from Las Tunas, Cuba collected three hits in five trips to the plate, scored twice and knocked in a run to leave his average at .750 after a game.
Even though he did not factor in the decision, Odrisamer Despaigne had an impeccable start. The righty from Havana tossed scoreless innings in which he only surrendered five hits and fanned five. Ciudad Obregón fell to Los Mochis 2-1, but Despaigne saw his ERA descend to 4.00 on the season.
For Los Mochis Félix Stevens laced a run-scoring eighth inning triple that brought in his countrymen Yasmany Tomás to mark the difference in the contest. The Cubs prospect has now driven in three runs on the young season in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico.
